Artiodactyla Suidae Currency Housing Receptacle

Got a bright blue piggy bank for winning some random quiz at an induction meeting, after Bank of Queensland bought out my company. Hence why i kept the logo on it. but after drawing fangs on it and giving it red devil eyes i just figured, it wasn’t anywhere near excellent enough. And thus,

I did what i normally do with random objects and too much time on my hands.

Steampunk Jet Lighter

I actually picked up this little ditty in a Maverick servo (GAS STATION. WTF-EVER. JESUS.) last september during my last States trip, and did it up a little today while i was procrastinating for my next trip to the US in which i leave on wednesday. Figured I’d update prior to my departure.

Food Porn

So if you remember a previous post in which i sculpted a layered “Not-cake” crafted entirely out of fruit for my dear friend lillian’s birthday, i had a visitor from Brisbane visit this weekend past, and one of the conditions in which i coaxed her down here was that i’d make her a Not-cake.

Watermelons are currently out of season which meant i could only score the quarter bits- slightly annoying but hey i worked it.

Ended up being a delicious edible piece of abstract art that tantalised the tastebuds. Even the slices wound up being awesome.

I am already planning my next endeavour with this, for my other housemate’s birthday in september. There are concept sketches.

For this delicious sculpting, it features;
-Watermelon for the main body
-Mango slices serving as a border
-Pineapple slices for garnishes
-Lychees for sweet sweet bite
-Honeydew melon for a topper and triangles
-Strawberries for added colour and deliciousness

The “icing” consisted of various citris and tropical pulps and juices for an all out flavour EXTRAVAGANZA.

In progress update (PHOTO LADEN POST OF DOOM)

So if you’re a happy little member of the forums over on Neoapocalyptica you probably have already seen this. But if not, then hooray for all, aren’t you in for a treat.

so i’m doing up my guitar, the love of my life. a Monterey Dreadnought MW-181CES.

No fucking idea how to deal with the tan lines from a previous era of stickers HOWEVER that is a work in progress, hence why its an IN PROGRESS UPDATE.

H’ok.

So I opted in for a brass saddle vs a plastic one, which you can kinda see in the below image;
undefined

actually here’s a better one with brass bridge pins added also;
undefined

Also replaced the machine heads from rusted steel to gold plated (which was surprisingly fucking expensive because apparently the machine heads aren’t made the way my guitar has them anymore..)

A crafty soundhole mod from a feeback buster and a steel sieve i found on the side of the road;

its been a while since i did any sort of mod on an instrument, previous works involved my classical guitar;

As well as being completely unable to resist a tribal design on my ukelele after a silver sharpie exploded and i didn’t want to waste the ink.

i’m still in the progress of trying to figure out something to do with the surface that will either remove or hide the tan lines, but yeah. something that doesn’t cost the earth and a half naturally. It’ll get there, and i’ll naturally be showing the completed project once done. or done more of. whatever. Have I mentioned i have a new ps3 console that doesn’t suck? Extended warranties. they pay for themselves really.

Finished Chair

Posted by Metzy on 10th February 2010 in Projects, Steampunkery

Right, so, finally got the chair done tonight.

I’m not  entirely certain as to who won out between myself and the adhesive. But whatever.

And they all have individual teeny mods to them. Almost reminds me of a steampunk terminator thingy which is kinda weird.

Chair Progress

Ok. So you may recall an earlier post wherein i Scored some intriguing crap from the house across the road, including this chair;

Well, I’ve been busy and decided to give it a bit of a lift. Currently just finished a new paint job and reupholstered the cushion.

Pretty chuffed with it thus far.

Random jingly thing.

What have i been up to lately? oh, not much really. Leading up to the festive season absolutely sucks, cash strapped and getting progressively fed up with people being overtly cheery just because its xmas.

That being said, here’s a shiny dangly thing i made a while back but just never got around to posting. good to hang off a belt loop on pants.

Made up of vintage keys, some trinkets off an old “pirate” necklace, and brassy shit lifted from Diva. I also hang a pocket watch on a chain on it when i can be bothered.

My Housemate’s “Not-Cake”

Posted by Metzy on 14th December 2009 in Projects

Thought I’d do something a little different for my friend’s birthday, so constructed her a layered cake entirely out of fruit. Figured I’d share the creation of healthy and delicious win.

Consists Of the following:

-Watermelon layered base
-Pineapple halved rings for decorating
-Ring of blueberries
-Strawberry garnish
-Ring of Honeydew melon
-Ring of Nectarine
-”Icing” made of passionfruit and lime.

For the confucious steampunker.

sp

arrrgh so productive with the busyness of THINGS. chucking a quick update on here with a random decoration mod i did on a pipe i picked up ages ago. I actually did this before i left for the states, but completely forgot to upload anything.

Nothin too spectacular, just did it out of boredom really.

Currently working on redoing paint job on wire chair from previous SFOTD post, and working on a set of “brass knuckles” from an old gauntlet of mine. pics forthcoming.

Amp Project Progress

Posted by Metzy on 17th August 2009 in Projects, Steampunkery

Some people would likely want me hung drawn and quartered for this one, but whatever, this isn’t a piece i’m likely to sell just due to sentimental value alone.

So, first and foremost, here’s what I’m working with;

Oh yes. that would happen to be a 1960 VADIS 601 Amp built by Soundcraft in Sydney. Yes it is vintage. Yes it is a collector’s item. and Yes, it is just that fucking rare. It also happens to be the last thing my father ever gave me. Now, the man was a purist. No playing basses with picks, no stickers on the guitars, and for christ’s sake leave an amp intact.

I never was one to abide by the rules now was I?

So first things first, I spent a night stripping the bajeezus out of it.

Then proceeded to sand it back, spray painted the interior gold just because, and applied a satin wood stain to darken it up.

I found some cool brass fixtures- for handles and replacement on front of head as the Vadis logo is pretty much wrecked. front part of unit also stained, and white strips being painted also.  (lighting on below photos = crap)

Phase one of body mod complete. Next step, refurbishing the electronics to get them cleaned up (for all audiophiles out there I’M ONLY CLEANING IT. NOTHING ELSE).
