Artiodactyla Suidae Currency Housing Receptacle

Posted by Metzy on 16th August 2010 in Projects, Steampunkery

Got a bright blue piggy bank for winning some random quiz at an induction meeting, after Bank of Queensland bought out my company. Hence why i kept the logo on it. but after drawing fangs on it and giving it red devil eyes i just figured, it wasn’t anywhere near excellent enough. And thus,

I did what i normally do with random objects and too much time on my hands.

SFOTD- Most Offensive Phone EVER.

Posted by Metzy on 25th July 2010 in SFOTD, Steampunkery

Located at a random furniture joint. you can find antique reproduction model phones on ebay depending on your price range. This one was cheaper than what i’ve seen on there tho, and i figured its so ridiculously lary, I had to have it.

Steampunk Jet Lighter

I actually picked up this little ditty in a Maverick servo (GAS STATION. WTF-EVER. JESUS.) last september during my last States trip, and did it up a little today while i was procrastinating for my next trip to the US in which i leave on wednesday. Figured I’d update prior to my departure.

SFOTD – In which Much Win was Located.

Posted by Metzy on 31st May 2010 in SFOTD, Steampunkery

This weekend I had the utmost hedonistic pleasure of playing host to the creator of Brisbane’s Premier Steampunk Nightclub, Prometheus Bound. While I’m certain Talisa is now looking to move here,  we managed to fit in a delicious weekend of crafting fruit sculptures, shopping, hairy opera houses and shopping. Lilli managed to spot an awesome find in my favourite shop of buddhist supplies and various imported crap;

best part? three freaking dollars for the lot. total win. needless to say Talisa and I cleared the shop out of the buggers and now there are only sheets of brass dinosaurs left. you snooze, you lose.

I will post another update in the next few days of the other piece of supreme SFOTD AWESOME we found on the way home in an alley, which happens to be a very old (albeit empty) dining set case constructed entirely of very heavy, very gorgeous wood. I have a rather intensive plan for that thing which will be getting much coverage on fuckimgreatjustaskme.com over the coming months.

EXCITING finds for the weekend indeed.

In progress update (PHOTO LADEN POST OF DOOM)

Posted by Metzy on 16th March 2010 in Projects, Steampunkery

So if you’re a happy little member of the forums over on Neoapocalyptica you probably have already seen this. But if not, then hooray for all, aren’t you in for a treat.

so i’m doing up my guitar, the love of my life. a Monterey Dreadnought MW-181CES.

No fucking idea how to deal with the tan lines from a previous era of stickers HOWEVER that is a work in progress, hence why its an IN PROGRESS UPDATE.

H’ok.

So I opted in for a brass saddle vs a plastic one, which you can kinda see in the below image;
undefined

actually here’s a better one with brass bridge pins added also;
undefined

Also replaced the machine heads from rusted steel to gold plated (which was surprisingly fucking expensive because apparently the machine heads aren’t made the way my guitar has them anymore..)
undefined

A crafty soundhole mod from a feeback buster and a steel sieve i found on the side of the road;

its been a while since i did any sort of mod on an instrument, previous works involved my classical guitar;

As well as being completely unable to resist a tribal design on my ukelele after a silver sharpie exploded and i didn’t want to waste the ink.

i’m still in the progress of trying to figure out something to do with the surface that will either remove or hide the tan lines, but yeah. something that doesn’t cost the earth and a half naturally. It’ll get there, and i’ll naturally be showing the completed project once done. or done more of. whatever. Have I mentioned i have a new ps3 console that doesn’t suck? Extended warranties. they pay for themselves really.

Finished Chair

Posted by Metzy on 10th February 2010 in Projects, Steampunkery

Right, so, finally got the chair done tonight.

I’m not  entirely certain as to who won out between myself and the adhesive. But whatever.

And they all have individual teeny mods to them. Almost reminds me of a steampunk terminator thingy which is kinda weird.

Chair Progress

Ok. So you may recall an earlier post wherein i Scored some intriguing crap from the house across the road, including this chair;

Well, I’ve been busy and decided to give it a bit of a lift. Currently just finished a new paint job and reupholstered the cushion.

Pretty chuffed with it thus far.

Steampunk Find of the Day

Posted by Metzy on 27th January 2010 in SFOTD, Steampunkery

Found this little contraption in a junk pile next door… the corner thing is spring loaded and old. so the thing doubles as both a lovely corner shelf (once shelves are re-added) and a fucking bear trap.

This’ll go nice with that chair I picked up over the road a few months back. which reminds me, i’ll need to post photos of the finished product shortly.

Steampunk Find Of the Day

There’s nothing that gets you out of bed quicker than a message from the housemate of win and awesome stating there are some lanterns that would appeal to me down the street.

Hell yes they appeal to me.

Random jingly thing.

What have i been up to lately? oh, not much really. Leading up to the festive season absolutely sucks, cash strapped and getting progressively fed up with people being overtly cheery just because its xmas.

That being said, here’s a shiny dangly thing i made a while back but just never got around to posting. good to hang off a belt loop on pants.

Made up of vintage keys, some trinkets off an old “pirate” necklace, and brassy shit lifted from Diva. I also hang a pocket watch on a chain on it when i can be bothered.
